Agricultural Machinery: market failing to grow
Final registration data for 2011 signal the stagnation of tractor sales, gaining 0.5%, a 7.2% drop for combine harvesters, transporters off by 12.2% and trailers down 0.6%. Following a positive start for the year, the market showed steady declines which went on to flatten the volume of sales down to the levels reported for 2010. The head of the manufacturers' association, Massimo Goldoni, affirmed that the mechanization crisis fits into the framework of the country's general condition and will not improve without an effective growth policy and without the full integration of mechanization into agri-industry policy
